[For New Users] Basic Terminology

Science Tokyo LMS and Science Tokyo MORE are built using Moodle, an open-source LMS application.
This section explains basic Moodle terminology.

Course

A course is the basic unit of enrolment in LMS/MORE. In LMS, one course is created for each subject.

Topic Section

A topic section is a section that groups items together. Sections can be added or deleted freely.
In LMS, when syllabus integration is configured, one topic section is created for each class session.

Role

A role is a user's function in a course. Roles include Teacher, Student, TA, and others.

Forum

A forum is a feature for discussions. It is similar to a bulletin board.

Activities and Resources

Activities and resources are both items that can be placed in a course.
Dynamic items that support interaction between teachers and students, such as forums, quizzes, assignments, surveys, and chats, are called activities.
Static items such as files, URLs, and pages are called resources.
